Straight answers about consultations, fees, and how Keystone Law Group works with Utah businesses.

Consultations & Getting Started

How do I schedule a consultation?
Call (801) 602-0644, email dfarr@thekeystonelawgroup.com, or submit the consultation request form on our contact page. We respond to most inquiries within one business day and will schedule a time to discuss your matter confidentially.
What should I bring to my first consultation?
Bring the documents at the center of your matter — contracts, correspondence, notices, corporate records — along with a short timeline of key events. The more context we have up front, the more concrete the guidance you receive in the first conversation.
Is my consultation confidential?
Yes. Consultations are confidential, whether or not you ultimately retain the firm. That confidentiality allows you to speak candidly about your situation so we can give you an honest assessment.
Does a consultation create an attorney-client relationship?
No. An attorney-client relationship is formed only when both you and the firm sign an engagement agreement. The initial consultation is an opportunity to evaluate your matter and determine whether the firm is the right fit.

Fees & Engagements

How does Keystone Law Group charge for its services?
Fee structures depend on the type of matter — hourly billing for litigation and complex matters, flat fees for defined projects like contract drafting or entity formation, and monthly retainers for outside general counsel arrangements. You will always know the fee structure before work begins.
What is an outside general counsel retainer?
A monthly arrangement that gives your business ongoing access to legal counsel — contract review, quick questions, risk guidance — for a predictable fee scaled to your needs. It is the most cost-effective option for businesses that deal with legal questions regularly but do not need in-house counsel.
Will I get an estimate before work begins?
Yes. Before any engagement, you receive a clear scope of work and a realistic estimate of the investment involved. If the scope changes as a matter develops, we discuss it with you before proceeding.

Our Practice

What types of clients does the firm represent?
Keystone Law Group represents businesses, entrepreneurs, real estate developers, financial institutions, and professionals throughout Utah — from startups and family businesses to established companies with complex legal needs.
Which areas of Utah do you serve?
The firm serves clients statewide — Salt Lake City, the Wasatch Front, and communities across Utah. Most matters can be handled through a combination of remote communication and in-person meetings as needed.
Do you handle both litigation and transactional work?
Yes — and that combination is a deliberate strength. Contracts drafted by an attorney who litigates disputes are built to withstand challenge, and litigation handled by an attorney who understands business transactions stays focused on commercial outcomes, not just legal victories.
What if my legal matter falls outside your practice areas?
Tell us anyway. If your matter requires specialized expertise the firm does not provide — such as tax, immigration, or patent law — we will point you toward trusted counsel who can help, and coordinate with them if your matter overlaps with our work.
How quickly can you take on a new matter?
Urgent matters — litigation deadlines, closing dates, time-sensitive disputes — receive priority. Contact the firm as early as possible; even where deadlines are tight, early involvement dramatically improves the available options.
